Cranberries have been known to help fight prostate cancer for men and are known for attacking urinary tract infections and promoting urinary tract health. But did you know that these little berries are full of other health benefits?

Cranberries helps support and enhance liver function and cardiovascular system. This smoothie is good for detoxing because it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids at 2,526 mg per recipe.

Using cranberries in smoothies can be done a couple of ways. The easiest is to purchase frozen cranberries. These are precooked and available year round, so no preparation is needed.

Cranberry Milkshake with fresh fruits

If you buy fresh cranberries, pre-chopping them for smoothies is helpful or even precooking a bit to soften them. But they can be used whole. I like frozen better for the best texture.  You can also formulate cranberry smoothies using 100% pure cranberry juice as your liquid instead.

This recipe includes chia and oatmeal for additional fiber and yogurt for protein. It is a great all around healthy smoothie.

You can also make this smoothie as a cranberry smoothie bowl! Simply be cure to use frozen berries and use extra yogurt for a thicker smoothie and then garnish with the oatmeal and some berries on top to stir in.
