High Protein Vegan Tofu, Almond, and Strawberry Smoothie
I have had requests for both high protein and vegan smoothies. This one is both! Tofu and soy yogurt are a source of complete protein. The body requires 9 essential amino acids and all 9 are found in soy products like tofu and soy yogurt.
By adding both tofu and soy yogurt to this recipe, along with some almond butter, this protein smoothie contains 29% daily value of your daily protein needs. Strawberries are a low glycemic index fruit to add fruity flavor.
Keto and low carb substitutions: Note that while this is a high protein smoothie, it still has a decent carb count with most of that coming from the soy yogurt. If you are trying to be keto or low carb, you can remove the yogurt and substitute something like avocado to keep a creamy texture. I love using avocado in smoothies for that purpose! This also is formulated with water, but you can use soy, almond, or coconut milk instead for a richer flavor. That will take the carb count back up again some though.
