Rocky Road Chocolate Oatmeal Smoothie Recipe

Sometimes, you just need some chocolate. This recipe delivers, but without the ton of sugar or unhealthy fats that you’d get by hitting the vending machine or drive-thru. This treat has enough fiber from oatmeal and protein to slow the absorption of sugar and help you get a bit of a boost without making your blood sugar spike and then plummet. Use it a s special treat, as a post workout shake, or for breakfast.

  1. I’m not sure how this recipe was supposed to work. Were oats supposed to be cooked? Anyway, mine just settled to the bottom of the smoothie and I had chocolate milk for breakfast.

    • Normally oats are not cooked when used in smoothies (although they can be if desired). I find that they will settle some if not very well blended. The same can happen when adding seeds to a smoothie. I tend to drink my smoothies with a straw and give it good stir now and then as well.
